Riding the rollercoaster of carpentry…
Day one of framing today and oh my goodness…most definitely our toughest day yet.
Lots of brainstorming, measuring and contemplating as we set out to build our bed frame, which ultimately will be the backbone of our van fit out. We chose to use pine structural timber and recycled hardwood for our frame. After scratching our heads, figuring out the best way to do things (given that our most recent businesses and experience have been a barista and wedding florist!!) we came up with a great plan…or so we thought! But, life is about adapting, adapting, adapting, so, we appropriately named ourselves Chameleons, and, the frame started to come together nicely.
What a rollercoaster of emotions. Feeling like we had no idea at the start what we doing, where to start and how to do things best, many profanities, lots of giggles and even a few tears later, we are proud to say that our bed frame (which is a standard sized double) is complete and soooo sturdy.
Feeling a lot more confident now to tackle the couch and remainder of our framing!
