Picturesque days…stormy nights
Day 5 in Kalorama today and we are really starting to enjoy the relaxed forest lifestyle, although today started with a little thunder storm action and a lot of anxiety, nervousness and branches hitting the van roof at 3:00am!! Being the first time we have woken up to rain and having our senses heightened (and heads so close to the roof!), it sounded like the gum trees over head were coming crashing down…however…after poking my head out in the rain to assess our apparent ‘situation’…turns out the rain drops were substantial in size, there were lots of leaves and only a few twigs that had fallen! Back to broken sleep while the thunder and lightening continued til morning.
Lazy day today while the rain continues. Yesterday we took Yuki (Allie & Brendan’s Pajero 4wd) for an outing to the RJ Hamer Arboretum to explore the clusters of trees set over acres of mountain landscape. Such an incredible view to see the layering of trees and terrain. Almost whimsical and I kept expecting to see Alice in Wonderland pop out from between a tree. We captured some amazing footage and Frank managed to capture a bee close up buzzing from one flower to another and then a butterfly, basking in the sunshine. All the while, holding his breathe as if to not scare them away!! A truly beautiful day.
Then back to base for a relaxing afternoon on the deck while the 4 dogs ran around with their teddy prize….who now covers the grass in a snow of teddy stuffing! Home made lasagne and 90’s movies completed our day 🙂
