Bye bye Mentone…

Today we said goodbye to our 2nd home and favourite Mentone café – Chain of Fools!! Ohhh Ravi, we are going to miss your smiling face, amazing hospitality, great coffee and wonderful Indian inspired tasty treats!

When we first moved to Mentone 6 months ago, we went in search for a decent café in the main strip….and were pretty disappointed. Then, on the way back from our morning beach walk, we stumbled across Chain of Fools, literally 1 block from home, opposite the beach! A very inviting, slightly hippy/alternative looking café, with an eco vibe, and a barista/owner with the most genuine energy and smile. We were instantly drawn in and never looked back! I think we had coffee at Chain of Fools everyday for a months and then every second once we became so busy with Lucy’s build.

My favourite was the scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms, and while this sounds rather ordinary, it was anything but that. Everything on Chain of Fools’ menu has a wonderful Indian twist….herbs, spices, flavours and love. Frank’s favourite the banana bread with yoghurt or egg and bacon roll with housemade relish and grated beetroot. If we were feeling like something more substantial and traditional, the daily curry is to not be missed!!! And the homemade brownies with fig….the spinach and feta filo…..the homemade matcha ice cream…..I could go on all day!!!

We have always felt at home at Chain of Fools and look forward to coming back to Melbourne to revisit!
