Back to the city…
Our week stay in the mountains just ended far too soon, as we brunched in the hills and bid farewell to some dear friends. We now find ourselves back in the city…well, the outskirts of the city, as we visit friends and family for the next couple of weeks, before we head off for good.
The past 2 nights we’ve been at my family’s enjoying pre-vanlife festivities. We visited a gorgeous old bakery built in 1892 that is still operating using their original stone oven. Nice to visit one of my parent’s favourite cafés and have a taste of their world.
Popped up to the shops for a little dose of civilisation, went past the bottle shop to pick up a little cool refreshing beverage, to find a new chilled red wine on sale – winning!! Let’s get one…oh hang on….if it’s good, let’s get 2. How will we know it’s good? Why don’t we try it? What here?! We can’t do that! Why not?! I guess….as I quickly take the lid off and take the fastest swig from a bottle as lady like as I possibly can while trying to not draw attention to myself! Oh it’s good!!! Lid goes on – let’s get 2!!
This morning we set off for our next stop, but before doing so, left my dad a nice little rhyming treasure hunt through the house…all for half a box of cheese and bacon crackers!! Mwahaha!! Then popped by our old businesses to say hello, past a café to see some old friends and fellow business owners, sat in 1.5 hours of highway traffic (YUCK – get me out of the city!) but have now arrived at tonight’s destination. Tomorrow – off to see Frank’s family.
