Let the travel planning begin!
First day of 2017 means it’s time to start planning our journey! As well as the fun part of decorating, we do need to focus on the serious stuff – like which way we are headed!!
We’ve decided to do a little driveway surfing between friend’s and a family’s houses from when we take off (Jan 15th) to Feb 4th, then we’ll do some exploring around the Yarra Valley, head over to the East Coast of Victoria towards Lakes Entrance and head North along the coast, through Eden and head for Canberra way. We found a great app called Camper Mate which will help us map out our journey based on free camps. As we are off the grid, we don’t need to rely on powered sites or caravan parks and will only stop into these maybe once a week or fortnight if needed, for washing, to refill water, charge up the batteries if we don’t have sunny weather…and for me to wash my hair!
We’ll then mosey up the coast towards Sydney, Byron Bay (with an inland detour to the Blue Mountains), Gold Coast and surrounds, heading all the way as far North as we can, before we head over to NT and the West Coast. As we get going, we’ll do more research on where we want to stop and decide how long to stay 🙂
