I got 99 problems….

I got 99 problems….and a bath waste is one of them!!

Oh my goodness!!! A bath waste – seriously…why so hard?!

A few weeks ago we purchased a full size bath waste with plug and all the fittings, thinking, yep, we’re on track, this will be perfect! Time comes to put our custom bath in place and install the waste pipe. Hmmm….hang on, this waste is about 20cm wide. That means a 20cm hole in the timber floor, insulation and van floor. Eeeeikkk….that’s going to be a bit risky, considering part of the chassis is directly below the bath!

Back to Bunnings for a smaller waste. Searching searching searching…..a pie and a latte later…no small bath waste. Back home. Scratch the heads. Let’s call around a few RV supply places. Ding ding ding – found one! 2.5cm waste with plug!! We don’t plan on draining hundreds of litres out of this bath in a hurry, so a little drain will be perfect. Back in the car, then back to Bunnings for a smaller piece of drainage hose and few more fittings….and the days over!!

Next day, we attach the waste and pipe to the actual bath, set it aside to dry. The drainage pipe is around 20cm long and needs to fit through the floor hole (which was a lot easier to cut out being smaller!) and pass through a small oval shaped hole that is already part of the chassis. Round pipe, oval hole – no problem! 2 holes and zip tie – now it’s oval!

Next day….I hold the bath over the hole, Frank on hands and knees feeds the pipe through the hole as we lower down. Then, crawling under the van, guide the zip tied pipe through the hole, cut the zip tie off and voile – drainage!!

No time for the framing around the bath so we can give her some sides, as she is going to double as a dining/prep table, so needs to look nice đŸ˜‰
